Millionaire Dewani named in another murder

London:  A Briton of Indian origin, accused of plotting the murder of his newly-married wife in South Africa, is now being linked to another similar carjack killing of an Indian-origin doctor in 2007, a media report said Monday.

Shrien Dewani, 30, a businessman from Bristol, is accused of organising his bride Anni's death.

Anni, a 28-year-old engineering graduate of Ugandan-Indian descent from Sweden, was killed in Cape Town Nov 13 when two men hijacked the car she and Shrien were travelling in. Shrien was let go by the attackers.

Dewani allegedly offered a taxi driver 1,400 pounds to arrange for Anni to be shot dead in a staged carjacking, according to claims outlined by a prosecutor in South Africa.
Now, police in South Africa are trying to build a new case against Dewani based on claims by the taxi driver, jailed for 18 years over the shooting, The Sun reported.

Zola Tongo, 31, told detectives he is convinced the groom arranged a similar previous murder.

The fresh inquiry centres on Pox Raghavjee, a 63-year-old doctor, killed by carjackers near his home in King William's Town in 2007.

Police in Cape Town have made the focus of their new probe a meeting between Raghavjee's widow, Heather, and Dewani and his father Prakash after Anni's death.

Her visit was requested by her daughter-in-law Alvita, a friend of the Dewanis in Bristol.

But police have no evidence Dewani was ever in South Africa before his honeymoon.

Heather Raghavjee said: "I am very upset, particularly for Shrien, at the awful accusations over my husband's murder. There is no substance in them."

Though South Africa wants Dewani extradited to face trial, he was freed on a 250,000 pound bail by the High Court, pending more hearings.

South African police chief commissioner Gen Bheki Cele said: "We don't like it but the UK assures us he has an electronic tag to stop him fleeing.

"We have a powerful case against him. The guy needs to come and try to clear his name."

A spokeswoman confirmed they were looking at Raghavjee's murder. "That investigation is ongoing, even if it means linking Mr Dewani to other cases."

Cool your horses dude…

Serendipity
“Virat Kohli is the next big thing”, “he da man”, “India’s future captain” and a plethora of such sobriquets filled my ears when the Delhi lad piled up century after century in trying circumstances. However, the words have been diluted in their impact as we Indians like to use the same set for every cricketer who hits a purple patch of form.

Now before everyone starts with their hate messages, let’s rewind a bit. Think Sanjay Manjrekar, Vinod Kambli, Yuvraj Singh, Mohd Kaif, Robin Uthappa and a dozen more great cricketers like them who flattered time and again, but they withered away with time, albeit after raking in some money and a handful of sparkling headlines to their names.

Everyone is not Sachin Tendulkar, we have to drill this simple fact in our heads. A young gun scores a ton and we go bonkers over him, hailing him as the new ‘saviour’ of Indian cricket. When will we grow up and let the players ‘earn’ their place in our hearts by standing the test of time?

I’m sure every series throws up a new hero for an Indian cricket fan and why wouldn’t it, we get someone scoring a few tons every now and then, we win a few and then the player fades away with a mediocre or ‘just ok’ career graph.

Agreed, Virat is a class act and the youngster is all set to make his mark on the world scenario and his role in the World Cup might well be the crucial difference that India needs. It still doesn’t qualify him as the biggest thing in Indian cricket and we would do the youngster a world of good by keeping unrealistic and unnecessary accolades at bay.

It has to be agreed that even Kambli, Kaif and Manjrekar were class acts of their time, look how they fizzled in a few outings and were replaced by equally limited talents.

If we just let Virat play his game and leave it up to his mentors and his own talent to find solid footing, the task of forming a formidable Team India would be a near reality than a distant dream.

‘Seniors, including me, to blame for India debacle’

Wellington: Dejected after the embarrassing ODI series whitewash against India, New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori on Monday said senior players, including himself, will have to take the blame for the debacle.

“It’s about players standing up and performing, Vettori told ‘ONE News’ on the team’s return to the country after a 0-5 drubbing in India.

“If we look at the reasons for the losses being because of selection or management structure we are absolving the players and myself included - so the players need to stand up,” said the talismanic leg-spinner, who has been leading the side since 2007.

Set to take a break to nurse a sore back, Vettori rejected suggestions that his multiple roles of being a captain, selector and key all-rounder were affecting the team’s power balance.
Vettori said his teammates are “comfortable” with his multiple roles but conceded that the fans might be running out of patience considering that his side has now lost 11 one-day international matches on the trot.
“Yeah, of course I don’t blame them. This team is hurting itself. It’s a miserable time for New Zealand cricket,” Vettori said.

“We did so well in the first couple of Test matches and then to let it all slip in the last Test and the one-day series, it hurts. And the only reason you play the game is to win and the only reason a lot of New Zealanders watch us play is to see us win.

“So we have to give that to them as soon as possible or otherwise it’s going to be really upsetting to a lot of people,” he added.

Kiwi coach Mark Greatbatch echoed Vettori’s views and said the team is “exceptionally disappointed and embarrassed.”

Timberlake Misses Impossible $1 Million Charity Shot

Justin Timberlake
Justin Timberlake attempted a hole-in-one with Callaway Golf clubs to raise funds for the Shriners Hospitals for Children — and ET knows whether or not he made the $1 million shot!
Justin had three attempts to drop a hole-in-one on a 180-yard, par three hole at the Callaway Golf Center in Las Vegas, using the company’s new Diablo Forged Irons. He didn’t make the big shot, but his efforts generated a Callaway Golf donation of $5,000. Timberlake has been a Callaway Golf staff professional since 2008, and he has previously made a hole-in-one.
“It was 182 yards into the wind,” he tells ET’s Kevin Frazier, who is with him in Las Vegas. “I feel bad that everybody’s misinterpreting it. I got so excited by it, and then everybody else was like, ‘Really?!’ So I said, ‘It was a fluke.’”

Vidya Balan for FHM Magazine Nov’10 edition…

Vidya Balan is the cover girl for FHM Magazine Indian edition for the month of November 2010.
Beautilicious Vidya Balan is slowly turning seductress in her own ways. She has exposed her steamy side in her recent photo shoot for FHM magazine. Hmmmm! So Vidya can get HOT if ‘needed’. Posing her bare back clad herself in a trademark sari, she literally set the cameras on fire.
Vidya Balan’s backless pictures are a super hit on internet now. Guess her topless bare back photos are sending shivers down the spines of Mallikas and Sherlyns too.
Vidya is finally back with a bang… Agree with me???

Raima pleads director to tone down hot steamy scenes in Mirchi…

The upcoming film Mirch, is surely going to get many eyes popped out. Well, the director of the flick Vinay Shukla made it very clear in the start that its India’s first erotic film.
It is heard that, Raima Sen’s lovemaking scene with Arunodoy Singh is very elaborate and so the actress is requesting the director to tone it down.
Initially, during the shooting of the scene, the lovemaking clip was shot and brief. But Vinay felt that the scene lacked passion and so it was important to work on it again. So Raima was cajoled into doing the scene again. This time, the lovemaking scene was long and elaborate and it has been retained in the film’s final cut.
“What will my mother say?” was her first reaction when Raima saw how elaborate the lovemaking sequence was: she was reduced to tears. Her co-star Arunodoy however was fine with it
The film, with the help of four parallel stories, celebrates female sexuality through the eyes of women who are uninhibited when it comes to sex
Mirch also has Konkona Sen Sharma doing a few lovemaking scenes but they are not as hot as Raima’s.

Priyanka gets back at Bebo’s comments…

This week’s Koffee with Karan is going to be all spicy. Priyanka Chopra will be seen with Shahid Kapoor on the show. PC was a little rude and harsh while talking about her once good friend Kareena kapoor. She revealed on how people in the industry don’t take Kareena too seriously. Kareena was no less. She too had passed a taunt at Priyanka on the show earlier when she said: “I wonder where Priyanka got her accent from.” .
Not to be outdone, Priyanka said, “I want to tell Kareena that I got my accent from the same place where her boyfriend ( Saif Ali Khan) got his.” reminding the show host that she, too, had studied overseas and therefore had access to an accent just like so many others in Bollywood.
Well, I wonder why poor Saif is being dragged in this ;) :( .
PC did not stop there. she went on to take a dig at Bebo. “I’m flattered that Kareena thinks I am a good actress,” . “But otherwise I don’t think people take Bebo too seriously,” is what PC reportedly said.
And she hit one final nail when she was asked what she would steal from computers of Bollywood superstars like Shah Rukh Khan, Shahid, Kareena and others. Known for her smart alec replies, PC giggled, “Does Kareena have a computer in the first place?”
Hmmm…Wonder what Bebo would have to say to that!
